Putnam County Commission accepts bridge for repairs

COOKEVILLE –  The Putnam County Commission voted unanimously Monday evening to accept the Elmore Town Road bridge that was de-annexed by Baxter in a special called meeting last Friday. The Putnam County Highway Department plans to make a temporary bypass around the bridge until it can be repaired, allowing school buses to resume service to the residents of the area.

In other action, the commission approved a new speed limit of 30 mph for Pete Carr Ridge Road and authorized the county mayor to apply for and administer the Litter and Trash Collection Grant with the State Department of Transportation.
