Parade of Homes returning for fourth year

COOKEVILLE – A homebuilder’s showcase – and one of the most popular events presented by the Home Builders Association of the Upper Cumberland – is returning this summer.

The Parade of Homes – in its fourth year – is scheduled for Aug. 19-20 in Cookeville and surrounding areas. The event is an open house/self-guided tour/showcase of new and remodeled houses.

The Parade includes “impressive homes in real neighborhoods,” said HBAUC’s Melanie Chadwell. The event aims to inspire – highlighting the latest trends in design, construction techniques, building materials, and energy efficiency. It’s also “incredible publicity” for builders and subcontractors. Only HBAUC members are included in the Parade.

“This is my favorite thing that we do by far,” Chadwell said. “The Upper Cumberland is a great place to live, and the Parade of Homes celebrates all that’s available here. Instead of browsing through design magazines and watching HGTV, you can stroll through homes in real neighborhoods and talk directly to builders. You’ll see actual examples of shiplap, quartz countertops, outdoor fireplaces, current paint colors, unique lighting, custom closets and other trends.  Whether you plan to build your dream home or upgrade your current residence, you’ll find plenty of inspiration, regardless of your budget.”

So far, two builders have committed homes to this year’s event: Holloway & Sons Construction with a ’70s retro build at 800 Parragon Road, and BK Homes with a home on Paran Road. Last year, seven homes were featured. More details will be released in the coming weeks.

“We always try to have a variety,” Chadwell said. “There’s a lot of really cool styles and great builders to showcase.”

Advance tickets ($10) will be available at First National Bank and Kitchen & Bath HomeCORR. Tickets may also be purchased at each house during the Parade. For more information, visit www.uchba.com.
