New arts-focused show launches Sunday

COOKEVILLE – Spotlighting a growing and vibrant arts community in the Upper Cumberland, a brand new weekend show debuts Sunday on Lite Rock 95.9

“The Scene” offers up two hours of conversation on the arts from music, dance and theater to pottery, painting and photography. The show debuts Sunday at 9 a.m.

“The Upper Cumberland is a rich resource of talented artists,” Stonecom Director of Programming Marcia Lee said. “We are excited to have a platform to showcase the work of our community’s treasures.”

Hosted by local artist Emily Newman, “The Scene” will include conversations with local artists, profiles of performers, as well as a weekly expression segment where artists can share why they do what they do and where the ideas originate.

“The Scene” will also feature previews of this week’s performances and what’s new at the galleries. Local movie and book lovers will review new titles as well.

“Much talk began during the city’s long-term planning about Cookeville’s burgeoning arts scene,” Stonecom President Larry Stone said. “We wanted to put that amazing creativity on the air every week and showcase the talent that’s already here.”

”Our team is excited to continue build locally-focused programming that showcases life in our amazing region.”

Stonecom Radio operates 106-9 Kicks Country, Lite Rock 95.9, Rock 93-7, News Talk 94.1/AM 1600 and UCSportsNation.Com. The stations serve the entire Upper Cumberland with local news, sports and weather, as well as community-centered programming and events.
