CARTHAGE – First Tennessee has announced plans to close its Carthage branch effective at noon, Wednesday, Sept. 25.

“These changes are part of our ongoing strategy that we announced last November at our Investor Day, to create a better, more efficient company positioned to deliver on our goals,” said Silvia Alvarez, First Horizon National Corp. senior vice president and corporate communications director, in an email to the UCBJ.

“Many factors were considered, including the number of branches in a particular area, community impact, and alternate delivery options such as the next closest branch and ATM network,” Alvarez added. “In some markets, this means we may open new branches, consolidate others, or in some cases close locations. We are being thoughtful about the impact these changes will have on our customers and employees. We have a plan in place to help our employees transition and continue to be committed to our customers’ banking needs.”

The nearest full-service branches available to First Tennessee customers are located on South Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville and West Main Street in Lebanon.
