First Tennessee Bank named to Forbes ‘World’s Best Banks’

Inaugural survey based solely on feedback from actual bank customers

MEMPHIS – First Tennessee Bank, member of the First Horizon National Corporation (NYSE:FHN) family of companies, which includes Capital Bank, has been named one of the “World’s Best Banks” by Forbes. This is Forbes’ first-ever list of the World’s Best Banks, and rankings were based solely on customer feedback.

“As the financial services industry becomes increasingly competitive, it’s more important than ever before for banks to provide seamless and supportive customer service,” said David Popwell, president of banking at First Tennessee Bank. “We are honored to be named to Forbes’ list of World’s Best Banks as this ranking demonstrates how hard our employees work every day to serve our customers well.”

To determine the World’s Best Banks, Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to identify how financial institutions were rated by their own customers. All financial institutions – whether brick-and-mortar or online-only – offering a checking and/or savings account were considered in the study. Statista surveyed more than 40,000 consumers across various age groups in 23 countries.

Participants were asked to rate their current and former banks for overall recommendation and satisfaction. Additionally, they had to rate their banks in five different subcategories: Trust, Terms & Conditions, Customer Services, Digital Services and Financial Advice. In total, 415 banks were named to the list; First Tennessee Bank was ranked #50 among U.S. banks.

This ranking comes on the heels of other recent recognitions: First Tennessee Bank won 21 Greenwich Excellence Awards and four Greenwich Best Brand Awards in Small Business and Middle Market Banking from Greenwich Associates, a global leader in market intelligence. The Bank also was the only bank to achieve an A+ rating in all measured categories of the Phoenix-Hecht 2019 Middle Market Quality Index, a survey of treasury management customers.
