Ficosa relocating 100+ jobs from Ky plant to Cookeville facility
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Ficosa North America announced today that its facility located in Shelbyville, Ky, will discontinue operations in 2020, and the plant’s current manufacturing activity will be integrated into Ficosa’s production plant in Cookeville.
The company, with headquarters in the Greater Detroit, Mich. area, currently operates a modern and highly integrated facility in Cookeville which is expected to have over 100 new job opportunities as a result of the consolidation. Employment opportunity will be offered to employees affected by the closing.
Joan Canellas, Ficosa North America’s chief executive, said, “While the decision to close our Kentucky facility was a difficult one, current business conditions in the automotive sector makes it critical for Ficosa to make this strategic move to increase operational efficiency and provide a sustainable model for future growth. We recognize the effect this move has on our employees and we are working with them to minimize the impact.”
