Cumberland Business Incubator schedules ‘Maker Mania’

Maker Mania 2015 posterCROSSVILLE – A “Maker Mania” event – or a showplace for whatever it is you make – will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, July 17, at the Cumberland Business Incubator (CBI) in Crossville.

Maker Mania is a chance for everyone to show off what they make, and the community to come see their creativity. Makers of all ages are invited to display their latest inventions, creations and “hacks.” If it’s original and you created it, fabricated it or otherwise made it – and it’s appropriate for a family audience – you’re welcome to show it off.

Among those already registered include: Emily Plank and Heather Booth, who were discovered at a recent maker event in Oak Ridge and will be displaying their 3-D Papercraft. The Blount County Public Library will be highlighting its STEAM education-related projects and sharing their plans for a maker space. And the Knoxville Makers Group will show some of their projects, as will members of the CBI Maker Space.

Registration is required of makers and forms are due by July 9. For more information, visit
http://2013.cumberlandincubator.com/2013/event/maker-mania/. Makers will need to bring their own display tables. Limited electrical power will be available. Indoor and outdoor spaces are available so be sure to describe the best space for your projects in the registration form.
