COOKEVILLE – A local manufacturer is expanding and will be building a new 26,000-square-foot distribution center and office space.
Tigar International, which manufactures metal products and plastic injection molded parts in its overseas factories and distributes them from its Cookeville location, has outgrown its current facility on Boyd Farris Road.
The new Tigar building will be located just south along Highway 111 from its current site, becoming one of the first occupants of the Blackwell Park industrial area. The pre-engineered metal building also features decorative stone on the front side to highlight the office area.
Construction began in May and is expected to wrap up in mid-September. The company has selected general contractor J. Cumby Construction (JCC) to head the project.
“Tigar International is a great example of locally owned businesses in the Upper Cumberland that are experiencing growth, and we’re honored to play a part in helping Tigar continue to expand,” said Justin Cumby, president of JCC.
Tigar’s owners, Tim Bates and Garry Rodgers, had heard positive reviews of JCC’s work from other projects the contractor has completed over the years, which led to the decision.
