Biz Foundry celebrates ‘entrepreneurship week’

COOKEVILLE –In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), The Biz Foundry is rolling out six days of free events in November. GEW begins Monday, Nov.18 with a free workshop on leadership. The workshop is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Biz Foundry’s Cookeville location and will be given by Thomas Cox of Mealfit.

The following day, Tuesday, Pitches & Pints returns to Red Silo from 5 to 7 p.m. Attendees receive a drink ticket at the door which is good for one drink at the bar. This is an open-mic style event. Locals with business ideas can pitch their idea to fellow attendees and receive feedback. Whether you are a consumer or a potential entrepreneur, all are welcome to attend. Rogers Group is the sponsor for this event.

Though the week starts in Cookeville, it does not stay there. The Biz Foundry is celebrating in Sparta and McMinnville as well. A Happy Hour is planned at Happy Trails in Sparta on Nov. 20. Similar to Pitches & Pints, attendees receive a free drink, but this event forgoes the open mic concept. Instead, this is a networking and social event. Hopefully, the

Sparta coworking space will be ready enough for a tour group to stop by. B&B Bonding will be teaming up with Mark’s

Specialty Seafood food truck to sponsor this event.  A grand opening event is planned at The Biz Foundry’s McMinnville location on Nov. 21. Both the Sparta and McMinnville events are from 4 to 7 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served.

The Biz Foundry also invites everyone to join them for free coworking on Friday, Nov. 22. Coworking is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the two open locations. Participants can test-drive the coworking space and make use of the complimentary wi-fi and coffee bar.

The week is capped off with the MyBigIdea! Grand Finale. This is the shark-tank style competition for the children of the Upper Cumberland. Students who have gone through the MyBigIdea! program are invited to pitch their idea. Competition winners will walk away with cash prizes. The pitch competition is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Prescott Middle School.
