Another large job fair upcoming

COOKEVILLE – Another mega job fair is in the works.

Goodwill Career Solutions and state officials met Thursday to discuss plans for a multi-employer event in October – more than 30-plus area companies are expected to participate to fill more than 500 positions in Putnam, White, Overton, Smith and Bledsoe counties.

Officials are hoping for an even bigger draw than a similar event in May, which drew over 300 – 51 employers and 259 job-seekers. It was one of Goodwill’s biggest.

The upcoming job fair, scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, will be held at the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) Cookeville Career Center, 580 S. Jefferson Ave., Suite B. Goodwill is serving as co-host along with the Career Center, American Job Center and Pacesetters.

Participating companies include Dana Gordonsville, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Putnam County Health Department, Signature Health Care, DP Personnel, Wise Staffing, Atwork Cumberland Staffing, Express Employment Professionals, Home Instead Senior Care, Bledsoe County Correctional Complex, RE West Transportation, TCAT-Livingston, TCAT-Crossville, Volunteer State Community College, Pacesetters, Goodwill, Upper Cumberland TN Reconnect Community, Tri-State Distribution, Silver Angels, Electronic Express, Charter Spectrum, OmniSource Staffing, United Healthcare, Metro Industrial, Fortis Institute, Tenneco, YouthCAN, AutoZone, ResourceMFG, AutoZone and Transamerica.

Openings include caregiving, factory, sales, clerical, transportation, production, manufacturing, correctional officer, construction and other positions. Rates of pay reach $25 per hour. Representatives from companies will be on-site and interviews are possible, so job-seekers are urged to dress for success and bring a resume, photo ID and Social Security card or birth certificate.
