MEDICAL: Adams joins Cookeville Regional and Tennessee Heart

Cookeville – Cookeville Regional Medical Center proudly welcomes cardiologist Christopher Adams, M.D., to its medical staff, bringing the number of cardiologists on staff to 13.  Dr. Adams will be specializing in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease and peripheral intervention.

Dr. Adams joins the medical practice of Tennessee Heart along with fellow cardiologists Mariano Battaglia, M.D., Stacy Brewington, M.D., Alex Case, M.D., Vert Cornielle, M.D., Brian Dockery, M.D., Tim Fournet, M.D., Michael Lenhart, M.D., Thomas Little, M.D., Scott Reising, M.D., Ashley Nickerson, D.O., as well as electrophysiology/arrhythmia specialists Mark Wathen, M.D. and William Wassynger, M.D.

Dr. Adams comes to Cookeville from Charleston, W. Va. where he has practiced at Charleston Area Medical Center and served as an associate professor at West Virginia University. He received his medical degree from Marshall University at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, W. Va., where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease. He went on to complete two fellowships in interventional cardiology and peripheral intervention/structural heart disease at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.

Dr. Adams has a special interest in structural heart disease and will be specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the valves and other vital structures of the heart. He will be performing a number of minimally invasive procedures, including the Mitraclip to treat mitral valve regurgitation in the heart. In addition, Dr. Adams will be performing carotid stenting and venous interventions to treat blood clots as well as peripheral vascular interventions for patients suffering from atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, where the arteries in their legs or arms are partially blocked by plaque.
